LEAGUE'S JUBILEE FUND

LONDON, August 20. The English Association football season started a week earlier than usual, the teams playing' friendly games on behalf of the League's £100,000 jubilee fund, which is intended to assist players and officials. Half a million spectators paid £22,000 in gate money. Results included:—

Tottenham Hotspurs v. Arsenal, 2-0; Aston Villa v. West Bromwich Albion, 1-1; Huddersfield v. Leeds United, 1-1; Notts Forest v. Notts County, 4-1; Swansea v. Cardiff, 3*3; Halifax v. Rochdale, 4-1; Hull v. York, 1-1. Scottish League.—First Division: Aberdeen: v. Third Lanark, 6-1; Albion v. St. Johnston, 6-2; Kilmarnock v. Hibernian, 0-1; Queen of South v. Arbroath, 2-0; Queen's Park v. St. Mirren, 0-0; Raith v. Partick 2-4; Rangers v. Motherwell 2-2. Second Division: Brechin v. Dumbarton, 0-3; Dundee United v. Cew.denbeath, 1-4; Dunfermline v. Airdrieonians, 0-0; East Stirling v. Alloa, 1-3; Edinburgh v. Montrose, 4-2; Forfar v. St, Bernard's, 2-2; Leith v. King's Park, 3-2; Morton v. Dundee, 2-1; Stenhousemuu: v. East Fife, 2-2.
