SYDNEY, August 21. A number of spring candidates made their appearance at the Victoria Park Meeting today. The course was heavyafter rain. Silver Standard, Mananui, Golden Chance, Captain Rose, Litigation, and Glaucus ran in the first division of the Welter Handicap, which was won by the much-fancied Arabia from Herarde and Rosmead.
Cerne Abbas, Golden Treasure, Yashmak, and Viceroy had an outing in the second division, which was won unexpectedly by the veteran Turbine from Coolspell and Black Fern. Golden Treasure and Cerne Abbas ran promisingly, finishing sixth and seventh respectively. Silver Coat finished third in the Brush Hurdles, won by Downham. The Metropolitan candidate Bristol triumphed in the second division of the Flying Handicap, after giving the field a long start.
