LAWRENCE TIBBETT.
Owing to the large number of applications already received for seats for Lawrence Tibbett's farewell appearance and in order to have the utmost amount of accommodation available, the organisers of the Wellington Competitions have arranged to transfer to the Opera House on August 30 in order that the final Tibbett concert can be given in the Town Hall. It is understood that seating for 3000 people will be provided. A new and varied programme will be presented. Concerts will also be given in Hastings on September 1, Palmerston North on September 3, and New Plymouth on September 5. It is interesting to note that Mr. Tibbett has already given 49 concerts in Australia and New Zealand since April this year, attended by over 120,000 people, which is a record for any artist appearing under the J. and N. Tait name. With a brilliant repertoire embracing all classes of music, Tibbett makes a universal appeal.
