WEATHER FORECAST
Forecast for Wellington:— Light'to moderate and variable winds, with south-easterlies predominating. Weather fair to fine. Moderate temperatures. The general forecast issued at noon today for the Dominion as a whole is for light to moderate and variable winds. Some morning fogs or light drizzle are probable at isolated places, but for the most part the weather should be fair to fine, with moderate temperatures. The anti-cyclone which was located over south-eastern Australia ' yesterday has become very intense and now extends across the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. The highest pressure is over Tasmania. Winds have become light and variable over New Zealand. In spite of the entire absence of any storm centre, there has been light rain at times in many places, and Foxton recorded as much as 0.58 in. For the most part, however, the weather has been fair. Temperatures were rather cool and a few sharp frosts are reported from the South Island. At Auckland yesterday there was a moderate. to fresh south-westerly wind, but this morning the wind was light and variable. The weather remained cloudy and there was light rain in the morning and evening. The maximum temperature yesterday was 58.2deg, and the minimum last night 42.0deg. The rainfall was 0.04 in. The weather was fair to fine and cool yesterday at Wellington. In the [morning a fresh south-westerly wind blew, but it decreased during the day This morning there was very light drizzling rain early, but conditions] rapidly improved. A very light northeasterly wind was blowing. The maximum temperature yesterday was 51.9deg. and the minimum 43.0deg.; The sunshine amounted to 2.2 hr and the rainfall to O.Olin. At Christchurch the sky was overcast yesterday morning, but during the afternoon it cleared. A moderate south-westerly breeze blew and the temperature was cool. Last night there was a sharp frost, but the weather was fine and sunny this morning. The maximum temperature yesterday was Sl.Odeg, and the 'minimum last night 31.9deg. The minimum on the grass was 19.7deg. At Dunedin the weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with passing clouds. Temperatures were cool and a moderate breeze blew from the south-west. Similar conditions prevailed this morning.
