DISQUALIFICATION
THE KING MESTOR CASE
At a special meeting of the Wellington stewards yesterday afternoon, King Mestor was disqualified for the Corunna Hurdles, which he won on the second day of the Wellington Meeting last month. The rule invoked was rule 103 (2) (d) (7), dealing with certain persons who are ineligible to enter horses for races. A further meeting of the stewards will be held on September 5, when the connections of the horse will be called upon to explain the entry of the horse at the Wellington Meeting. The result of the disqualification is that Southern Blood is now recorded as the winner of the Corunna Hurdles, with Chaste elevated to second and Laggard to third. In connection with the stakes, which have already been paid out, rule 330 reads: "Where, before any objection is duly made, any money or other prize has been paid over, the club shall not be responsible for payment thereof to any other person unless it recovers the amount from the person liable to repay* the same, whose name, in case of failure to pay, shall be placed on the unpaid forfeit list."
