PATEA GOLF BALL

WANGANUI, August 19.
One of the most successful functions held at Patea for some time was the annual Ball of 'the Patea Golf Club. Some 500 dancers were, present, and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent orchestral music. Japan and its cherryblossom and lanterns provided the foundation of the decorative scheme. Those responsible for decorations and supper were Mesdames R. N. Haddow (in black romaine), T. Cardiff (ivory net ovdr taffeta), Misses B. Wilson (green georgette), L. Carey (cherry silver striped eire), and B. McCarty (in tabac net lace). Among those present were Mesdames T. E. Roberts, W. T. Miss Strouts has returned from Gisborne. Mrs. S. Scott returned this week from a long holiday spent in Melbourne. Mrs. R. Drummond has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. A. C. Mclntyre, Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Harris has returned from a cruise of the South Sea Islands. Mrs. J. B. Davis and Miss S. Davis are visiting Christchurch for the College Rugby- tourney. Mr. - and Mrs.-Kelvin Hammond, of Hunterville, are also viisting the south for the Rugby tourney. - Mrs. Freeirian Jackson who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. H. E. Worsop at Whangarei has returned. Miss H. Barnot is yisiting her sister, Mrs. Ridley Cooke at Thames. Mrs. P. S.
