LAWN TENNIS
KARORI UNITED CLUB
A most satisfactory state of affairs is revealed in the annual report and balance-sheet of the Karori United Lawn Tennis Club. The 1937-38 season was one of the most successful ever enjoyed by the club, there being a record number of members, including many young players, and there was marked enthusiasm among them all. Tne club has benefited particularly by the admission of these young enthusiasts, three of whom were able to receive coaching under the auspices of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association. R. Blair, one of the juniors, who [is perhaps the most promising player in the club, won the men's handicap singles from a fairly hard mark. Financially, Karori United is in quite a fair position, showing what is sometimes rare among small clubs, a satisfactory credit balance despite considerable outgoings for the maintenance and improvement of playing facilities.
The annual general meeting will take place next Thursday.
