PERSONAL NOTES

Miss Jean Begg, India, is spending a few days in Wellington before leaving for Dunedin, -where she will stay for the rest of her furlough in New Zealand.

Mrs. L. R. Curtis, returned yesterday to her home in New Plymouth after a .short visit to Wellington. She was accompanied by her two daughters, Miss Joan Curtis, Christchurch, and Miss Shirley Curtis, Wellington.

Mrs. F. Pegden and Miss Margaret Pegden, Palmerston North, are spending a few days in Wellington.

Mrs. Frank Goldberg, accompanied by her younger daughter Inez, arrived by the A'watea yesterday for an extended <visit and is staying at the Hotel Waterloo. .

Mrs. R. C. Drummond, Landsdowne, Masterton, is visiting Auckland to bid farewell to her son, Mr. Hugh Drummond, who sailed by the Tainui for England, en route to Oxford University, where he will study for three years.'

Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Caffin, whose wedding took place in Christchurch on Wednesday, are staying at the Hotel Waterloo. The bride was Miss Carol Eagers, only daughter of Mrs. Caroline Eagers, Christchurch, and the late Mr. Oliver Eagers. Mr, Caffin is a member of the literary staff of the "Herald,"-and he and* his rwife will make their home in Remuera, Auckland.

Miss E. M. Suckling, Wellington, was a recent visitor to the Hermitage, Mount Cook.

Mrs. J. G. Shea, Wellington, is staying with her mother, Mrs. George Reid, Timaru, for the Reid —Miller wedding.

Miss Mary Briscoe is spending the University term holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hylton Briscoe, Te Ore Ore, Wairarapa.

Mrs. A. Grigor, Palnierston North, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. M. Ward, Blenheim, is visiting Hamilton.

Mr. and Mrs. K. Q. Chamberlain, Palmerston North, who have been visiting Wellington, returned home on Wednesday.

Mrs. Harold Baker, .Hamilton, is visiting Wellington.

Miss Jessie Deacon, Wellington, who recently completed her training at the Wellington Clinic as a dental nurse, will return to her home in New Plymouth tomorrow. She has been appointed to the clinic at Pakura, Taranaki. '

The Misses Tot;and Joyce Pittaway, Bunedin, left from Wellington by the Tasman yesterday, en route to Singapore and Java. Miss Molly McTammey, of Dunedin, was also a passenger.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brough, Wairarapa, will leave by the Maunganui for a trip to Australia.

Mrs. M. Murray (Lake Tekapo), Mrs. W. Paton (Auckland), Miss P. D. Moynham (Nelson) are staying at the Grand Hotel.

Mrs. J. P. Hoare (Wanganui), Mrs. A. Robson (Hastings), and Miss B. Loy (Christchurch) are staying at the Hotel St. George.

Miss L. "Benson, who has been a student teacher at the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College, has resigned her position on medical advice. The Board of Managers decided last evening to place on record its appreciation of the interest displayed in the college by Miss Benson during her period as a pupil as well as her stu-dent-teacher period.

Miss Maynard Hall (well known as the former "Aunt Pat" of 3YA, Christchurch) arrived at Wellington yesterday morning, and will leave for Sydney, en route to Los Angeles, where she will stay with her brother, Mr. Winter Hall.
