RUGBY LEAGUE

WIN FOR ST. GEORGE

CENTRAL BEAT RANDWICK

St. George defeated Newtown in the senior Eugby League game at Newtown Park on Saturday by 33 points to 11. *

Both teams played good football in the first spell, with very little to choose between the sides, in fact Newtown had gained the lead at half-time by 11 points to 8. They owed this to the forwards, who dominated play from the commencement. If the passing on the Newtown side had been more accurate they would have scored more points. ■ St. George had no difficulty in gaming the lead in the second spell, and despite the determined play of Newtown held the lead.

Newtown seem to more than hold their own in the first half of most of the games they have played this season, but their combination goes to pieces in the second/spell. However, they always prove to be a very hard team to beat. • . ■ Cooke (2). Eadie (2), Mailman, Cooke, and Carroll scored tries, and Spencer converted five tries and kicked a penalty for St. George. Churchill and Jamieson (2) scored for Newtown, and Churchill converted a try. St. George 33, Newtown 11.
