The Dominion Auctioneering Company Limited, Palmerston North, reports spirited competition for all lines of pigs offered at their fair last Thursday. A total clearance was made at considerably improved prices. Prices for poultry were well maintained on late rates. Quotations: —Pigs: Weaners. up to 12s 6d; slips, from 16s 6d to 225; stores, from 18s 6d to 27s 6d; porkers, from 30s to 375. Poultry: Best W.L. hens, from 5s 6d to 6s per pair; light hens, from 4s to ss; heavy cockerels, from 6s to 9s; light cockerels, from 5s to 6s 6d; roosters, from 5s to 7s 6d; ducks, from 5s to 7s; drakes, from 5s 6d to 6s 6d; pullets, from 7s 6d to 9s. Produce: Apples. Delicious from 6s to 8s per bushel. Jonathans from 5s to 7s, Ballarats from 4s ..to 5s 6d, cookers from 3s 6d to 4s 6d, Granny Smiths from 5s to 6s; pears, from 6s 6d to 8s 6d per three-quarter-case; cauliflowers, from 14s to 17s 6d per sack; cabbage. Savoy from 12s to 14s per bag, drumhead from 12s to 14s 6d per bag; carrots, from 4s to 6s per case; parsnips, from 3s 6d to 5s per case; potatoes, from 5s to 6s per cwt; pumpkins, from 6s to 8s per bag; beetroot, from Is to 2s per case; marrows, from Is 6d to 3s per bag; swedes, from 4s to 5s per bag; kumeras, from 4s to 6s per bag; rhubarb, from 4s to 6s Gd per dozen; sprouts, from 6d to 7d per lb.
