MR. BERNARD PAGE

CHURCH ORGANIST IN LONDON

The "Musical Times" (London), of March, contains a notice of interest to Wellington people. It relates an organ recital by Mr. Bernard Page, who has been a London organist for some years. His church is Notre Dame de France, Leicester Place, London, the littleknown church of the French colony in the Metropolis. The organ has a rather famous history. It was built in 1861 by the famous French craftsman responsible for the organs of Les Invalides and La Madeleine, Paris, and he went to England specially to supervise its installation. His name is Cavaille-Coll, and in his day he was known all over Europe. This organ has been revoiced and enlarged, and is now one of the best church organs in London. The dedication festival was celebrated by Bishop Myers, auxiliary of Westminster. Mr. Bernard Page is known to many Wellingtonians as former City Organist of Wellington.
