HAPPY INSPIRATION.
Martita Hunt, who was John Gielgud's leading lady during his memorable season at the Old Vie. London, in 1929-30. was welcomed L back, to > the theatre where she did some of the most interesting work of *er career. In a revival of "Othello." Ralph Richardson appeared as the Moor and Laurence Ollivier was lago. Miss Hunt's role was that of Emilia: Mr. Richardson had appeared at the Old-Vie on a previous occasion, but as lago, so both he and Mr. Ollivier brought freshness to their roles. The two actors have for some time wanted to play together in ''Othello," and their association was a happy inspiration. Curigwen Lewis made an attractive De"sdemoria. Anthony Quayle was Cassio; Stephen Murray, Boderigo; Tristan ■• Dawson, the Duke; Frederick Bennett; Gratiano; and Andrew Cruikshanks, L'odovico. Tyrone Guthrie was producer for the memorable revival. Roger Furse, who studied at the Slade and in Paris, did the costume and settings. He has assisted Komisarjevsky in the theatre before, but "Othello" was the first big job he had attempted on his own. His work at the Mercury, Gate and Perran£orth Summer Theatre is well known, however.
