By the Wanganella this afternoon the New Zealand Rugby representatives #re proceeding to Sydney, where, after several days in which to find j their land legs again and get into j trim for play, they will open their Australian tour with a match against New South Wales. The teamt will be away until August 16, on which date those members who do not return to Auckland direct from Sydney will arrive back in Wellington. There had been a suggestion that the team play a match here on its return, but nothing, has come of it. Today the members of the team have been occupied with leave-taking and this afternoon they had a. group photograph taken, r'ter which an official farewell was given them by the New Zealand Rugby Union. The difficulties in regard to accommodation, mention of which was made in "The Post" yesterday, were overcome by the players being permitted to occupy their cabins on the nella last night. Members of the New Rugbyteam were among the guests at the Poneke Football Club's cabaret dance last night, and the oppoEtuhity was taken/to extend best wishes to them for an enjoyable and successful tour. The club was represented in the team by its senior captain, J. L. Griffiths, to whom a small presentation was made during the evening. C. E. Quaid, a former member of the Poneke Club, who is also in the team for Australia, was congratulated on behalf of the club. '■■■■: --'"/..
