A CITY SCHOOL

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —A few weeks ago it was reported in your paper that the Hori. P. Fraser, M.P., said at a meeting up north that he would see that the schools were made habitable—"some of them were not fit for a Maori to put his horse in." This kind of remark was made some six years ago by the late Mr. F. Pirani in reference to Mt. Cook Girls' School. "It was not fit for a stable," he said. He was brought to book by the Department, as he was then a member of the Education Board and castigated. Now, Sir, this same building still is being used for Mt, Cook scholars, despite the fact that Mr. Fraser told the boys at the December break-up, he was sorry they had been kept so long in the old building. They would come back after their holidays, see' two new rooms, and that would be the end of the old building.—l am, etc.,

MOTHER.
