WEDDING

MILES—WARD. I Dorothy Kathleen Mary, only daugh-! ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Ward, Wellington, was married recently to Vernon Wallace Miles, of Christchurch. The ceremony was performed at St. Andrew's Church, The Terrace,, by the Rev. Brian Kilroy. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a lovely gown of magnolia satin, cut on slim-fitting lines, the skirt lengthening into a scalloped i train. The bodice was ruched and featured a square ruched neckline. Her beautiful veil, with true lovers' knots embossed at the corners, was held in place by a top-knot of white roses. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Joan Mitchell, of Auckland (chief), and Miss Marie Thompson, of Wellington. They wore slim-fitting frocks of green and pink moire taffeta, with insets of tulle. Short tulle veils were worn and were held in place by top-knots of silver roses. Pink carnations, luculia, and heather made their bouquets.

Mr. Allen Jorden was best man, and

Mr. Lex Morris was groomsman. The ushers were Mr. J. Parfitt and Mr. R. Ward.

During the signing of the register, Miss S. Devenie sang "Because." Sylvia Steer, cousin of the bride, presented her with a silver horseshoe on leaving the church. ,

A reception was held at the Mayfair Cabaret, where the guests were received by Mr." and Mrs. Ward. The latter wore a model gown of black floral taffeta, with black accessories. She carried a bouquet of cornflowers and hydrangeas. Mr. Ronald Steer, uncle of the bride, was master of ceremonies.

When Mr. and Mrs. Miles left by train for the north, the latter wore a black tailored costume, black accessories, and Russian mink fur coat.
