PUBLIC BODY WORK

VALUE OF ACCOUNTANTS

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

PALMERSTON N., This Day,

"Accountants are the most-qualified persons to serve on public bodies, particularly those dealing with financial matters," said Mr. M. F. Spence, of Napier, president of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, when speaking in Palmerston North. "I think it is a national duty for them to do so. Accountants should take a keen interest in public bodies." Many people who served on public bodies, he added, failed to comprehend the intricate accounts, and for that reason accountants could be of assistance on city councils, harbour boards, and similar organisations.
