Most popular among all the fixtures during the season at Trentham, the Wellington Racing Club's Winter Meeting will be opened tomorrow, when the Wellington Steeplechase will be the feature item. An excellent field of even quality has been secured lor this event, and the other races have also filled splendidly.' The first day's schedule is a comprehensive one, comprising two cross-county events, two hurdles, and four races on the flat, and it is undoubtedly the most entertaining card on any of the eleven days' racing held during the season at Trentham. The horses engaged at this week's meeting are drawn from almost every portion of the Dominion, so that the wide clash of form will make the task of the investor a more than ordinarily difficult one. However, the-form shown at the leading meetings during the last two months is likely in the majority of instances to provide the most reliable line, and the place totalisator at Trentham offers a popular medium for those who will be at the races)mainlv for an exhilarating and not too expensive day's spox*t.
