PIGS, POULTRY, AND PRODUCE.
The Dominion Auctioneering Company, Limited, Palmerston North, reports very spirited competition for all classes of pigs offered at their weekly fair last Thursday. Good weaners realised from 13s to 15s each, slips to £1, and porkers to 37s 6d. Poultry was also in demand, a decided improvement being noticed on last week's prices. Quotations: —
Pigs.—Weaners, 13s to 15s each; slips, from 17s to £1; stores, from 21s to 255; porkers, to 37s 6d; sows, from £2 7s 6d to £3.
Poultry.—W.L. laying hens, from 6s to 7s per pair; W.L. table hens, from 4s 6d to 5s 6d per pair; heavy cockerels, from 6s 6d to 9s per pair; 8.0. hens, from 7s to 8s per pair; light cockerels, from 4s 6d to 5s 4d per pair; roosters, from 6s to 7s per pair; ducks, from 5s 6d to 8s per pair; drakes, from 5s to 7s per pair; pullets, from 6s per pair; geese, 3s 6d each.
Produce. —Apples, from 6s to 7s '6d per bushel; Jonathans, from 5s to 7s per bushel; Ballarats, from 4s to 5s 6d per bushel; cookers, from 3s to 4s per bushel; Granny Smith, from 4s to 6s per bushel; pears, from 6s to 8s 6d per £ case; cauliflowers, from 17s to 20s 6d per bag; cabbage, Savoy from 14s to 15s per bag, Drumhead from 13s to 15s 9d per bag; carrots, from 3s to 5s 6d per case; parsnips, from 4s to 6s per case; potatoes, from 5s to 6s per cwt; pumpkins, from 5s to 9s 9d per sack; beetroot, from Is to 2s per case; marrows, from 2s to 3s per case; swedes, from 4s to 5s 6d per bag; kumeras, from 5s to 7s per bag; rhubarb, from 5s to 7s per dozen.
