COMMITTEES SET UP

The following sub-committees were appointed recently at a meeting of the general committee of the Wellington Crippled Children Society, at which Mrs. Knox Gilmer (president) occupied the chair: — Executive, Mesdames Knox Gilmer, H. The president is also ex officio a member of all sub-committees.
An outline of the year's work ahead was given, and hopes were expressed for another year of useful service in the interests of crippled children.
At a subsequent meeting of the executive committee, a number of cases were dealt with, and grants of assistance made. An endeavour is to be made to set up one crippled boy in a tobacconist business in Petone, The policy of commencing the .teaching of boot-making is also to be pursued further, and it is hoped to have arrangements made for this at an early date.
Collecting boxes are to be made and installed in prominent places in the city.
Mrs. Knox Gilmer and Mr. J. Meltzer were appointed delegates to the annual conference of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society to be held on August 18 in Wellington, and a number of remits for consideration are to be submitted.
