"A SNEAK THIEF"

A sentence of iix months' imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on Cyril Reynolds for the theft of a bicycle when he appeared before Mr. R. C. Abernethy, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. He appeared also for sentence on a charge of stealing a lawnmower at Otatara last December, on which charge, heard on January 12, he had been convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. On that count the Magistrate discharged him today. Detective-Sergeant' Thompson said that the accused had had an accident with his own bicycle-and had later stolen another machine from outside a city garage. From the stolen machine he. had taken the parts needed for his own bicycle and had got rid of the remainder. The accused was ia married man. Vwith several children. Nothing good could be 'said of him. He was a snejik thief..
