MIRAMAR SOCIETY
The annual* meeting of the Miramar and Eastern Suburbs Horticultural Society was held on June 21. There was a very good attendance of members.
The report and statement of accounts ,howed that the year had been the nost successful for some years. There lad been a large increase m member, ihip and in the attendances at monthly neetings, and very successful shows iad been held. The finances of the society were also in a very satisfactory position. There was a substantial cash balance, and considerable additions had been made to the plant. •The society had again been successful in winning the R. A. Wright Trophy and- the "Evening Post" Trophy at the Wellington Horticultural Society s shows. The trophy presented by Mrs. Hutson for most points in monthly vase competitions was won by Mrs. H. ■Welch. The New Zealand Gladiolus Society's medal was won by Mr. J. S. Vickers. Moore; hon. auditor, Mr. T. Condlifle; show manager, Mr. A. Dean; assistant show manager and stock steward, Mr. A. Harper; trophy steward, Mrs. C. Clark; delegates to .Wellington Horticultural Society, Mrs. W. Hutson and Mrs. J. S. Vickers; delegate to Wellington Beautifying Society, Mr. T. McLaughlan; general committee, Messrs. R. .Clark, T. Lane, R. Goddard, H. Whitt, McLaughlan, Pamplin, J. Townson, Mesdames C. Clark, Fevre, Hutson, Goddard, Pritchard, Steele, Francis, Whitt, Vickers; bird section committee, Messrs. L.
