SOCIAL AFTERNOON

A social afternoon was held recently in the Methodist schoolroom, Brooklyn, the proceeds being in aid of the Women's Christian Temperance Union headquarter's fund. Mrs. Reed was in the chair, and there was a good attendance.

The League of Mothers' choir, conducted by Mrs. Kennedy, contributed several glees and two elocutionary items were given by Miss Nola Hyd". Miss Kirk spoke on the object of the meeting, namely, to assist in a special effort to liquidate the debt on headquarters by 1940. A vote of thanks was accorded to the speaker, the performers, and to all who had contributed to the stalls and afternoon tea.

Damp weather frequently causes windows to "stick"; this will not happen if the frames are smeared with • little floor polish. ______
