The Singapore correspondent of thai "Daily Herald" says that as the Japan* ese armies advance through Southi China towards French Indo-China tha defences of French Indo-China are being rapidly strengthened, twenty thousand recruits augmenting the existing garri« son of 10,000, including a battalion of the Foreign Legion. Emplacements for 15-inch guns are being constructed at Cape Saint James and a submarine refuelling station has been established at Cam Ban Bay.
