Results are as follows (Australian names given first):— Mixed Doubles.—Thompson and Miss Horsbrugh beat Samms and Miss Peake, 15-6, 15-3; Craske and Miss Cuthbertson beat Pattinson and Miss Goss, 15-0, 15-4. Women's Singles.—Miss Horsbrugh beat Miss Peake, 11-3, 11-3; Miss Cuthbertson beat Miss S. Goss, 11-3, 11-3. Men's Singles.—Craske beat Brock, 15-1, 13-15. 15-1; Thompson beat Pattinson, 15-6, 15-11. Women's Doubles.—Misses Horsbrugh and Cuthbertson beat Misses Goss and Peake, 15-7, 15-2. Men's ' Doubles.—Thompson and Craske beat Wilson and Welsh, 15-2, 18-16. | SUCCESS IN THE NORTH | (By Telegraph— Press Association.) ! NEW PLYMOUTH, June 26. The section of the Australian badminton team touring the North Island beat a North Island team by 5 matches to 3 in a badminton Test on Saturday. Australia won both the mixed doubles, which came at a vital point in the series, the home players giving a disappointing display. Otherwise the teanis were evenly matched. There was a packed house. Women's Singles.—Miss Robert beat Mrs. Wren, 11-7, 10-12, 11-5; Miss Hewet lost, to Miss Fleming, 1-11, 1-11, Men's Doubles.—Harper and Tonkin last to Hawksworth and Spedding, 5-15, 12-15. Women's Doubles—Misses Robert and Hewett beat Miss Fleming and Mrs. Wren, 15-8, 15-9. Mixed Doubles.—Harper and Miss Hewett beat Hawksworth and Miss Fleming. 15-7, 15-2; Tonkin and Miss Robert beat Spedding and Mrs. Wren, 18-14, 5-15, 15-7.
