A GREAT MUSICAL EVENT.
Rightly designated one of the worlds wonder singers, Alexander Kipnis, the famous Russian basso, who is under engagement to the National Broadcastml Service, will make his first public appearance in Wellington this evening at the Town Hall, in association with Noel Newson, the brilliant New Zealand solo pianist and accompanist, i Critics everywhere have acclaimed Kipnis as one of the greatest vocalists of his day. One of them writes: His interpretations are perfect, perfect in their sense of dignity, of reticence, of; resigning any exterior effect, and of serving the composers intention. His phrasing is unique, a phrasing which makes every sentence appear m its true sense, which makes every song sung in a foreign language appear familiar even if one does not consult the programme. The severest demands are fulfilled by-his art to pronounce every word most clearly, and yet to put 'the flow of the melody first. In short, his concerts were, for the most severe and scathing critic, a musical feast of a richness seldom to be enioved. even in Europe." The box plan is at the TXLC. ,
