A FALSE SUBPOENA

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) HOKITIKA, June 24. In' the Magistrate's Court Joseph Martini,..salesman, was charged with issuing a false document,. purporting that a man had been subpoened, which resulted in the recipient making a journey from Weheka, 100 miles below Hokitika, to attend the Court.

The Magistrate convicted Martini and fined him £3, stating that he. thought it a stupid prank, otherwise the maximum penalty would have been inflicted.
