PEDIGREE BULLS

STORTFORD LODGE SALE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, June 24. Roughly half the 120 pedigree stud and run Aberdeen Angus bulls offered at auction at Stortford Lodge today were sold. The sale was organised by the combined breeders, and held under the auspices of the New Zealand Aberdeen and Angus Breeders' Association. It was apparent from the beginning that the inquiry would not be as great as that of last year, and, while many owners refused to meet the market, a number of sales were made later privately. The cattle came, forward in good hard condition. The'top price of 110 guineas was made by a solidly-built 20 months old bull sold on account of the estate of W. A. McFarlane. It was bought by J. F. Knight (Palmerston North). Another bull, sold on account of T. May (Waipawa), made 100 guineas. The average price of those sold at auction was about 30 guineas.

POTATO MARKET QUIET (By Telesrraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 24. Canterbury, grain and produce markets remain featureless. The small seeds trade has, of course, finished for the season, and the only interest is in potatoes. As the Government has still not announced the result of its investigations into possible markets overseas, most growers are content to hold their crops, and practically no business is being done. The nominal quotation to farmers remains unchanged at £2 10s to £2 15s. NEW ZEALAND FARMERS' FERTILISER PROFITS. (Br Telegiaph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 24. The net profit of the New Zealand Farmers' Fertiliser Company, Limited, for the year ended May 31 was £22.224, against £21,160 a year ago. The sum of £4000 has been added to the reserve fund, increasing it to £40,000. The directors recommend a dividend of 6 per cent, for the year, an unchanged rate, leaving £26,477 to be carried forward, as against £23,973 brought in.
