RELIGIOUS SERVICES. T ECTURE ON BIBLE TRUTH (God Willing) 1.0.0. F. HALL, ALLEN STREET (Opp. Paramount, Courtcniiy Place). SUNDAY, at 7 p.m. Subject: "THE BIBLE AND ITS TRUE MESSAGE" "THE HOLY SCRIPTURES ARE ABLE TO MAKE WISE UNTO SALVATION THROUGH FAITH, WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS. ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN" BY INSPIRATION" OE GOD. ..." (Paul, 11 Tim. 3:15-10.) - The object of this lecture is to show:— (1J THAT the. Bible itself is the inspired and infallible Word of God, the only aiid final authority extant concerning divine truth—the only "light" in a dark world. (II Tim. 3:10, II Pet. 1:21 Jas. 1:21, Acts 20:32, Psa. 119: j 130,'lsa. 8:20, I Pet. 4:11.) (2) THAT it teaches that salvation can be received by those only who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 3:16, 8 John 12:46, Acts 10:31.) j (3) THAT a belief in the . Lord Jesus Christ logically involves believing His teaching and obeying His commands. (John 3:34, John 6:68, John 8:31, John 12:48, John 15:7, Luke 4:43, Luke 8:1, Mark 10:15-16, * Luke 6:46-40, John 14:15, John 15:14.). (4) THAT His "teaching and commands can only bo. found in the Holy Scriptures, therefore "the Holy Scriptures are able to make wise unto salvation" (II Tim. 3:15), and consequently Jesus said, "Search the Scriptures." (John 5:39, Matt. 7:7, Acts 17:11.) (5) FROM which it follows that the .doctrine of substitution is a fallacy, for Christ did not die instead of unenlightened and disobedient sinners (which the vast majority who profess to "believe" are), but for enlightened and obedient believers;- hence it is written:— "IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST HIS SON CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN." .(I John 1:7.) "HE (JESUS) BECAME THE AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION UNTO ALL THEM THAT OBEY HIM." (Hebs. 5:9.) Questions invited; No collection. If you wish to know what "believing in Christ" really means, read the book "Christendom Astray." A copy will be sent free on application to "Bible Truth, care above hall.

WARD, Commissioner. IN 1902 Dr. Torrey and Alexander, two | evangelists from America, commenced a mission in Wellington, and many precious souls were brought into the Kingdom. One of my workmates, and companion in sin, went, and was truly saved. In his joy he was anxious to see me blessed. At that time I-wanted to be saved, I was tired of the empty bubbles of this poor world, and I did want rest and peace. 1 made a profession, but I am sorry to say that was all it was, and when temptation came, I soon fell away. My dear, reader, beware of empty profession. You might join the Church, be baptised, and take the Communion, but if you are not born again, born of God, it will only land you deeper in the lake of fire as you are more responsible. It is so easy to be deceived. 1 used to speak to.people, about their soul's salvation, give out tracts, and had a certain amount of joy which I now know to be only feelings. Next week (D.V.) 1 shall seek to tell how God saved me, and made me a new creature in Christ. Please read the 3rd chap, of John's Gospel. Anxious souls, can we help you? If so, write F. J. Cross, 44 Rakau Road, J» ' ' ' ' " '
