MIRAMAR ESPERANTO SOCIETY
The weekly meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society was held last Tuesday evening in the clubroom, St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar Avenue. "La Krbniko," the weekly "Chronicle" of the society, reported that a letter had Been received from Mr. Henri W. TliomSi ex-secretary of the Hutt Valley Esperanto Club and now president of tile Auckland Esperanto Society, conveying greetings to the Miramar Esperantists and reporting the progress of Esperanto in the Queen City. The secretary (Mr. James E. Wells) announced that he had received beautifully-Illus-trated brochures in Esperanto issued by the Swiss Central Tourist organisation.
Another class was formed for new members. After an hour's tuition the various groups assembled for the programme period. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Morrison presented an original short Esperanto sketch, "La Estro eksigas* S-ron Brown!" ("The Boss Dismisses Mr. Brown!"), written by Mr. Morrison. For the purpose of encouraging members to write original short sketches in Esperanto, the president (Mr. Bertram Potts, J.P.) and Mr Wells presented seven impromptu sk'etches with the theme that Mr. Brown received his dismissal, each presentation being different from its predecessor. In the course of one of the scenes Mrs. Wells and Mr, Nick Butler were called upon to take the parts of typiste and postal official respectively. Each playlette had an unexpected denouement. Next week a supper will take place instead of the customary programme.
