INJURED PLAYERS

RUGBY LEAGUE TOURISTS

TEAM FOR TOMORROW

BRISBANE, June 20,

While training this morning, the New Zealand Rugby League player Gault wrenched his right side and was removed to hospital. Medical examination revealed that he is suffering from a badly-bruised hip bone. He will remain in. hospital for observation. He had been chosen to play at Toowoomba on Wednesday, but it is extremely unlikely that he will be fit. It is most unlikely that Tetley, who was injured on Saturday, will play again on the tour. The manager of the team, Mr. Redwood, said that Tetley must have complete rest for the strained sinews in his right knee. Tetley, who is now in bed at his hotel, expects to be fully recovered by the time the team returns to New Zealand. Kay, after the run today, felt no soreness and will probably play on Wednesday. The team will be selected from Hemi, Midgley, Kay, Chase, Smith, McNeil, W. Brimble, Grotte, Anderson. Herring, McLeod, Glynn, Gault, Orman, and McNeight. Two of those will be omitted. Questioned concerning a Sydney report that he had asked for a Sydney referee for the Queensland matches, Mr. Redwood said that it was merely an informal suggestion which he had not pressed. He says he has now asked Sydney to defer consideration of the request for a Test match until he has seen how the Kiwis fare against Queensland next Saturday. At practice today the Kiwis con« centrated on scrummaging, the loos* head giving more aid to the hooker.

NO TEST TO BE PLAYED

ORIGINAL FIXTURES STAND (Received June 21, 12.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The general committee of the New South Wales Hugby League has decided that there will not be a Test between Australia and New Zealand on July 2, as requested by the council of the New Zealand Rugby League. It was decided that the matches previously arranged for July 2 would stand. These matches are New South Wales v. Queensland at Sydney and New Zealand v. Newcastle, at Newcastle. The Queensland League had telegraphed that it was not interested in any other fixture for July 2 than the New South Wale's v. Queensland match. The committee did not discuss the possibiltiy of a Test being played later. A message was read from Mr. Carlaw, co-manager of the Kiwis, recommending that the final decision on the question of the Test should be deferred until after next Saturday's match between New Zealand and Queensland.
