MORE CONTRACTS

STATE HOUSING SCHEME

Cabinet approval of the following additional contracts under the Government's housing scheme was announced yesterday by the Parliamentary UnderSecretary to the Minister of Finance (Mr. J. A. Lee):— Auckland: Ten houses at Mount Albert (Mr. C. P. Hine); 56 houses at One Tree Hill and 17 houses at Tamaki (Fletcher Construction Co., Ltd.). Huntly: Eleven houses (Mr. H. Beebe). Te Awamutu: Twenty houses (E. S. Sorensbn, Ltd.). Feilding: Three houses (Gill and Flavell, Ltd.), Mosgiel: Six houses (Mr. F. D. Boswell); four houses (Love Construction Co.). A contract for the construction of sanitary and storm-water sewers at Stratford has been secured by Mr. A. F. rJoie. The following land purchases have been aproved:— Auckland: An area in Great North Road, Avondale, sufficient for two houses. Areas in Seaview Terrace and New North Road, Mount Albert, sufficient for three houses. An area in Point Chevalier Road, Point Chevalier, sufficient for two houses. Wellington: An area of Crown land in White's Line, opposite Waiwetu Road, sufficient for six houses. Tenders are being called for further houses as follows: Homebush Estate, Khandallah, 49 houses; Methodist Orphanage estate, Christchurch, 28 houses; Dignan Estate, Point Chevalier, 12 houses.
