A DEFINITE MOVE
MEDIATION IN SPAIN
BRITAIN AND ITALY
BETTER PROSPECTS
(United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received June 21, 1.50 p.m.); LONDON, June 20. The Australian Associated Press says that for the first time since the commencement of the conflict in Spain a definite plan is being discussed for mediation by outside Powers for an early cessation of hostilities.
There have been swift moves in the last few hours, it is stated, between European capitals as a sequel to an approach by the Italian Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, to the British Premier, Mr. Chamberlain, in connection with implementation of the Anglo-Italian agreement, and the prospects are better than for a considerable time.
The Rome correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" says that the British Ambassador, Lord Perth, called on the Italian Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, and had a conversation as the outcome of mutual desire for the creation of favourable conditions whereby Britain may implement the Anglo-Italian agreement.
