MISHAP AFTER REFIT
AIRCRAFT-CARRIER FURIOUS (Received June 20, 9 a.m.) LONDON, June 19. The aircraft-carrier Furious, which is regarded as a hoodoo ship owing to various mishaps, was prevented from leaving Devonport after her refit when a water pipe in the steering gear burst. The Admiralty denied sabotage and added that such a defect often occurs after repairs. j
