CONCERT FOR MAYOR'S FUND.

Novelty is everything in entertainment, or, at any rate, nearly everything, and the charity concert in aid of the Mayor's Relief Fund at the Paramount Theatre last night was essentially novel. It was at once a preview of a part of the first talking pic-ture-to be made in New Zealand by Standard Film Laboratories, Ltd. The local film artists sang, danced, and amused the audience under" the full Kleigl lighting of the modern studio, and the audience came in as "extras" under the lights, and will have a place in the finished film, which is being directed by Mr. Harison Cook. Altogether the evening was thoroughly enjoyed, both for its novelty and the quality of the individual item*.
