ORANGES ASHORE

FRUIT RECENTLY DUMPED Following the dumping of the ten tons of Rarotongan oranges beyond the harbour limits on Tuesday, Deep Creek Beach and the adjacent bays were strewn with decaying fruit yesterday morning, the oranges having been driven inshore by the fresh southeasterly wind that has prevailed during the past few days, states the "New Zealand Herald" of today. As they •were deposited by an exceptionally high, - wind-driven tide, it is unlikely that outgoing tides will carry the oranges out again. .
