LONDON, June 3,

The Western Derby by-electipn, necessitated by the resignation-of the Marquess of Hartington, resulted as follows:—

Henry Hunloke (Conservative) 16,740 Alderman White (Labour) .... 11,260 Milner Gray (Liberal) 6,515

The Marquess of Hartington had been returned unopposed both at the 1931 and the 1935 General Elections. In 1929 he polled 16,760 votes, the Liberal candidate 13,277, and the Labour candidate 3660.
