MILITARY PARADE

WELLINGTON REGIMENT

MONDAY'S ARRANGEMENTS

While the display of mechanised units will attract a great deal of. attention at the King's Birthday parade on Monday morning, the interest of many Wellington citizens will be centred in their own Regiment, and it is expected that the Ist Battalion Wellington Regiment will make a good showing. The battalion will be commanded by Lieut.-Colonel E. M. Stace, and arrangements have been made to secure a full parade. The Regiment will be accompanied by its Pipes and Drums and Military Band, and after the ceremonial parade on Aotea Quay and the march through the • city, the band will lead the Regiment to the Town Hall. As the Battalion marches past the main entrance of the Town Hall the Mayor (Mr T. C. A. Hislop) will take the salute. The parade will wheel into Wakefield Street and will turn back and form up in line in front of the Town Hall for inspection by the Mayor. After the inspection the Battalion will march along Cuba Street, through Mercer Street, Jervois Quay, and Taranaki Street to Buckle Street to return the Colours and dismiss. In the event of the weather pre ving too .wet for a parade on Monday the cancellation will be announced over the.air, and the Royal Salute will be fired from Point Jerningham at 8 a.m.
