HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS

Numerous holiday events will be provided for Wellington on Monday, most of those who take part in winter sports having arranged competitions. The racing fraternity will be able to attend' the Otaki Meeting, or, if they wish to go further afield, the racing at Napier Park. There is also a trotting meeting at Wanganui. Rugby enthusiasts will be well catered for, as a seven-a-side tournament is being held during the morning, and the finals, with an Air Force match, will provide the curtain-raisers at Athletic Park to the senior first division match between Poneke and Athletic. The first interprovincial Association match of the season will be played between Wellington and Canterbury at the Basin Reserve in the afternoon. As a curtain-raiser, a team representing the first B division will play an eleven selected from the next best in the first A division. Golfers will be well provided for with teams matches between the presidents' and captains' teams at the Miramar, Taita, and Hutt Clubs, and tournaments at Shandon, Manor Park, Titahi, and Paekakariki. The remainder of the Wellington clubs have arranged varied programmes for the holidays. Followers of hockey should find plenty of interest at Karori Park, where a women's seven-a-side tournament will be held, and basketball players are holding a tourney and the indoor championships,
