(Received June 4, 10.40 a.m.) BERLIN, June 3. Field Marshal Goering has become the father of a daughter, who has been named Edda, which is intimately associated with German mythology, and is also the name of the wife of the Italian Foreign Minister, Count Ciano.

Rain again interfered with the county cricket matches, and the only teams that were able to win outright were Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Results are:— Surrey v. Warwickshire, at the Oval. —Surrey, 179 (Paine four for 45) and 186 (Hollies five for 7,4). Warwickshire, 138 and 228 for five (Cranmer, not out, 88). Warwickshire won by five wickets. Worcestershire v. Essex, at Southend. —Worcestershire, 192 (P. Smith six for 68) and 147. Essex, 135 (Jackson four for 25) and 144 (Jackson seven for 44). Worcestershire won by 60 runs. Kent v. Somerset, at Folkestone.— Kent, 179 (Todd 76; Andrews six for 51). Somerset, 6 for none. The match was drawn. Lancashire v. Sussex, at Preston. — Lancashire, 173 (Hammond four for 33). Sussex, 120 for seven. The match was drawn. Yorkshire v. Hampshire, at Huddersfield.—Yorkshire, 202 (Bowes six for 73). Hampshire, 26 for none. The match was drawn. Oxford University v. Middlesex, at Oxford. —Middlesex, 167 (Young five for 37) and 215. Oxford, 183 and 201 for eight. The match was drawn.
