PRICES FOR SHEEP

IMPROVEMENT AT FEILDING

(By 1 ' Telegraph—Press Association.) i FEILDING, June 3. There was a decided improvement-in. the sale today for sheep, at Feildirig, all lines making good values. Another heato, penning of fat sheep came forward, but this did not detract from the demand for top quality lines, of which' there were several pens. Store sheep sold particularly well, both ewes and lambs going up considerably in . price. Not many cattle were yarded in the pens beyond the usual odd lots, but in the beef section some splendid station-fatted material was on offer. Prices wife fully firm fojt all prime liiiw. Dairy cattle were not up to last week's quality, and brought lower prices, following were realisations:—

Fat Sheep.—Ewes, heavy prime, 28s 3d to 24a Id; second grade, 18s, 6d to 19s 9d; unfinished, 16s 3d to 18s 3d; extra prime lambs, 29s Id; prime, 22s 4d tofts 4d; medium prime, 20s to, 225; light} 16s to 19s 4d; best wethers, 26s 6a to 27s 6d; second quality,'24s to 25s 6dr-light, 19s to 23s lOd. Dalgety and Co., in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, held a successful sale of dairy cows this week account Mr. J. w. Wheeler, Mangawhata. The dairy herd of approximately 100 cows was an exceptionally nice line in excellent condition. with a record of more than 3111b of butterfat. The top price of the day was £14 ss, the 98 cows averaging £10 head. Following are the main July and August calver's, £10 10s to £14 15s; September and October calvers, £8 10s to' £10 ss; four young bulls (average), £8 10s. Wether hoggets, 20s* Seven-year-old draught mare, £42; nine-year-old draught gelding, £30; aged draught gelding, £29. CARTERTON SALE. Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., offered a good yarding of sheep, cattle, and pigs at the weekly Carterton sale yesterday. Sheep sold on a par with late rates, and the inquiry for smaller

pigs was . good, porkers meeting an easier market. Cows and heifers on drop. were keenly sought after,. while fat and* forward cows sold on a par with last week.
