HEAVY FOG AT AUCKLAND
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day,
One of the worst fogs at Auckland for years delayed shipping and trains this morning. The cargo vessel Tolten, which arrived under charter to the Union Company for the Pacific trade, threaded its way . delicately up the harbour at 7 a.m. The fog later thickened and the Port of Montreal was held up in the stream until' 12.15 p.m., when she sailed for Wellington.
The Limited express was fifty minutes late in arriving.
The suburban trains were fairly well up to time.
The fog lifted early in the afternoon and the sun is now shining clear.
The last of the ten entries for the Bledisloe Medal oratory contest, namely, those from Otago Unversity, were received in Auckland on Thursday, states the "New Zealand Herald." The competitors are Mr. J. Meade, who will speak upon the life of Lord Rutherford of Nelson, and Mr. D. L. Wood, whose subject is, "New Zealand Signs the Treaty of, Versailles." The contest will take place on Wednesday night in the Auckland University College Hall. -
