JURYMAN SHORT
AUCKLAND PANEL
CASE PROCEEDED WITH (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. For the second time this session a Supreme Court case was heard today before Mr. Justice Callan with eleven jurors. The panel of jurors was insufficient, and the procedure of "praying a tales" almost had to be followed. The doors of the court were shut and the Registrar took the names and addresses of persons in court unconnected with the case. It was decided, however, after a conference between his Honour and counsel, to proceed with one juryman short. The case was one in which Mary Margaret Barry claimed damages of £1800 from the Auckland Hospital Board for alleged negligence in treatment while the plaintiff was in the Public Hospital. It was alleged that a i swab was left in after an operation and jthat it was removed only after a further operation in a private hospital.
