Just prior to the mishap negotiations were in train for his sale. i The question of having a doctor on , courses on mornings when fast work ' and schooling is carried out was dis- | cussed by the Auckland branch of the Owners', Trainers', and Breeders' As- - sociation this week. The matter came up as the result of an accident at Te t Rapa, when R. E. Thomson 'was injured while schooling a horse. It was . considered that there should be a doc- , tor readily available' on three morn* . ings of the week when schooling is in t progress. ... , t The jumper Neil, who injured a leg , while contesting the Te Rapa Steeple--5 chase recently, was destroyed this week. Neil was a brown gelding by * Lucullus from Little Flower, and was i in his twelfth year, having been foaled "in 1926. He scored his last success 2 when he gained a surprise victory c the Mangere Steeplechase at Ellersne jlast month. ; ... . ■i When Riotous came to grief in the ' Waikato Steeplechase at Te Rapa last e Monday week, his rider, W. J. McDowell, received broken ribs. If recovered, McDowell will ride L. Knapp s fteam, which includes Riotous, Forest - \ Glow, Porotiti, and Hirangi, at the ), I Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meetjing.
