UNIVERSITY V. ORIENTAL

Except for a period in the second spell University were pretty_ well on top in their match with Oriental op Saturday. The backs were too fast, and their forwards too lively, generally speaking, for their opponents. Oriental tried hard all the way, but they could, not produce sufficient sustained form to cope with University. The latter, with their forwards playing with more dash than in recent games, kept up a fairly steady offensive in the first half, Oriental making only occasional breaks. The University backs, with Larkm and Bryers back in the team, also functioned more as a consistent combined unit than has been the case generally this year. There were mistakes, but there was an improvement in their handling. Oriental took the brakes off in the first half of the second spell. Their forwards, playing a bustling and to some extent spoiling, game, kept University in check. But the effort not sustained. University came away again to clap ~on the points, and wn very easily by 28 points to 9. For University wild, TriCklebank, Thomas (2), and McNJoql scored tries. Kissell converted two tries and kicked two penalty go.aiSAnsley scored a try, and Rowland# kicked two penalty goals for Oriental) The referee was Mr. J. S. King.;; ..;*a
