THE BUTTER TRADE
MARKET COLLAPSED
HOLDERS ARE NERVOUS
(By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.)
(Received 'May 30, 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 29,
The butter market has collapsed. Holders are nervous at the general otitlook of the butter market. There is undoubtedly some accumulation of Australian butter in the hands of importers and resellers in London, while New Zealand is piling up in the northern ports. , Lower prices now seem inevitable. Hitherto speculators and the multiple stores were interested, but now trading is most difficult and transactions are .of the smallest dimensions.
The cheese market is weaker in sympathy with that for butter. But the statistical position of cheese justifies some firmness.
