POWER BOARD ELECTION
LABOUR WINS ONE SEAT
(By Telegraph—Press' Association.! AUCKLAND, This Day. Eleven Citizens' committee candidates and one Labour candidate won seats at the Auckland Electric Power Board election yesterday, when approximately 40,000 votes were cast in a moderately heavy poll. This is the first election held under the extended franchise.
Mr. S. J. Harbutt, retiring chairman, topped the poll with 22,433 votes. Others elected are Messrs. H. T. Goldie, J. Park, W. J. Campbell, S. I. Crookes, E. H. Potter, J. Dempsey, M. J. Bennett, C. J. Lovegrove, S. W. House, F. M. Waters (all Citizens), and J. Sayegh (Labour).
The twelfth seat remained in doubt until 1 a.m., Mr. W. A. Donald, Citizens' candidate, closely challenging Mr. Sayegh. Nine sitting members sought re-election, and all except one. the Hon. T. Bloodworth. M.L.C., were returned
