HUTT Y.M.C.A.
ANNUAL MEETING
Mr. H. W. Kersley presided over an Attendance of over fifty members at the annual meeting of the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A. last evening. He referred to the great importance of the work, its growth and variety, and thanked all who had assisted, especially the ladies' auxiliary. The association had in Mr. A. C. Edwards a leader who was doing most valuable community service and he was glad to be able to state that Mr. Edwards, who had been offered another appointment, had decided to remain, Mr. Kersley went on. The financial statement, read by Mr. A. E. Lambourn, showed outstanding liabilities to the amount of some £70, which was much the same as the previous year. Mr. J. W. Andrews, Mayor of Lower Hutt, congratulated the association on its important work among the boys and young men and suggested that the importance of the work justified an application for assistance from the Lower Hutt and Petone Councils. He commended the work of the ladies' auxiliary. The Rev. D. C. McKee and Messrs. V. Jacobson and G. Aitken were added to the Board of Directors.
Mr. William Carey said he regretted to announce that Mr. Kersley would not accept another year of office as president. The association would feel most keenly the loss of Mr. and Mrs. Kersley, who had each done yeoman service.
An expression of appreciation of their services was carried most heartily. Mr. Carey stated that Mr. Kersley would remain on the board and that Mr. C. G. Hedge had consented : to nomination as president. 1 i Mrs. Hedge, as president of the ladies' auxiliary', thanked the board and the staff for assistance given in the work and said that the ladies were glad to be of assistance. Mr. H. D. Grocott gave an inspiring, address on his experiences when attending a British Y.M.C.A. convention at which there were delegates from most of the countries in the world.
