Armstrong) its expected to return frorp Auckland tomorrow. Mr. W. V. Dyer, chairman of tho [Wellington Education Board, returned yesterday after spending a holiday in the Auckland district. The Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe ' Bishop of Wellington, is making a good recovery following his recent accident, although he is still receiving medical treatment. Acting on medical advice, he will not fulfil any engagaments for a month, .and all correspondence and matters of urgency are to be handled by the Vicar-Gcneral, the Ven. Arch'deacon Qullock. Mr. J. G. Duncan, of Wellington, returned by the Awatea today from Sydney. Mr. Kenenth McLellan, J.P., organise ing manager of the New Zealand National Eisteddfod, was the recipient of a small gift from music and dancing teachers in Wellington, on Saturday night, in recognition of the, fine work he has done in the promotion of juvenile talent. Awatea today after a six weeks', holiday visit to Australia. ( Mr. W. O. Campbell, general manager of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd., Christchurch, left Auckland yesterday by the Port Sydney for London. > Among the passengers by the Awatea today from Sydney was MajorGeneral Sir A. H. Russell, who wal accompanied by Lady Russell. ■ _ Mr. E. L. Rutledge, managing director in New Zealand of the Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation, will leave Aufckland tomorrow on a visit to America and England. Professor G. Smith, Professor of Botany at Cornell University, United States, arrived at Auckland by th# Monterey on Friday from San Francisco, accompanied by Mrs. Smith. He is to spend s nearly three weeks in tfw Dominion, partly on holiday and partly to collect information upon, native plants. Mr. S. T. Williamson, of Williamson and Co., and the Douglas Steamship Company, Hong Kong, arrived by the Awatea today on a visit to New £ea* land. Mr. Williamson is honorary agent for the New Zealand Government at Hong Kong. . The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop). who took a short vacation after the municipal campaign and election, is returning to Wellington, this afternoon. Mr. E. Esdaile, of Wellington, hair left for Auckland / Mr. A. W. Nisbet, secretary of the Wellington Manufacturers' Association, who has been on a visit to Australia, returned by the Awatea today. , Mr. John Sullivan, relieving officer of the General G.P.O. staff, Wellington, has arrived at Wanganui to act 'as postmaster during the absence of Mr. G. Nelson on holiday.
