PALMERSTON NORTH CITY COUNCIL (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. The official recount of the voting for nine members of the Palmerston North City Council has resulted in the displacement of one candidate, Mr. J. J. Stevenson, who occupied ninth place at the count on the night of the election. Mr. A. Grigor, who was then placed tenth, is now in the ninth position. Details are as follows:— J. T. J. Heatley, 4720; W. Mouldey, 4668; G. Tremaine, 4666; D. F. Smillie, 4452; W. B. Tennent, 4446; H. E. Townshend, 4427; W. G. Black,' 4410; J. Hodgens, M.P., 4352; A. Grigor, 4330. Those not elected are:— J. J. Stevenson, 4286; R. H. Spencer, 4070; H. G. Mills, 3868; M. Briggs, M.L.C., 3640; A. Penketh, 3530; P. T. Robinson, 3348; W. F. Cutler, 3324; C. R. Murphy, 3098; A. T. Bedingfield, 3067. The only successful one of the nine Labour nominees was Mr. J. Hodgens, M.P. - EIGHTH TERM AS MAYOR (By Telegraph—Pregs Association.) WAIHI, This Day. The official count of votes for the Waihi Mayoralty has increased Mr. YV. M. Wallnutt's total to 907, giving him a majority of 436 over his opponent, Mr. W. C. Collier. Mr. Wallnutt has now entered his eighth term of office, having completed fifteen years' continuous'service as Mayor.
