NEW GUINEA QUAKE
TIDAL WAVE FOLLOWS SOME HOUSES COLLAPSE RABAUL, May 13. An earthquake occurred at Salamaua at 1.40 o'clock this morning. It' was followed by a small tidal wave. Some wooden houses collapsed, but nobody was injured. The water rose over the Customs wharf, washing away objects on the foreshore. Earth tremors also occurred at Madang and Wau without causing damage. Salamaua is the site favoured for the capital, to replace Rabaul.
